Will physicians feel the pain of health reform

Physician pay hikes did not keep pace with inflation in 2008
U.S. physician compensation increases did not keep pace with 2008’s inflation rate of 3.8%, according to a Medical Group Management Association report. Primary-care physicians saw a 2% increase in pay while compensation for specialists rose 2.19%. Gastroenterology and pulmonary medicine were two specialties that posted gains, with compensation increases of 7.38% and 6.65%, respectively. American City Business Journals/Atlanta
