Changing practice patterns could reduce health spending
Health policy experts say reducing U.S. health care costs can be relatively painless if physicians and hospitals in areas that spend the most on medical care bring their numbers in line with lower-cost regions. The problem, one expert said, is that such a goal would require changing the way medicine is practiced as well as the way it is reimbursed. National Public Radio (text and audio)
