There are significant disparities in healthcare

A recent report looking at disparities in health care found:

  • 48% of black adults in the U.S. have a chronic medical condition, compared to 39% of the general adult population
  • 18% of blacks are uninsured, compared with 12% of whites .
  • Hispanics are only half as likely to have a usual source of care as whites.
  • Half of hispanics and more than a quarter of blacks do not have a regular doctor, compared with only one fifth of whites.
