When Doctors Can’t Say No

Editor’s note: One way to improve the growth of patients demanding services and drugs is to have consumers pay more of the bill. In the 1960s and perhaps sooner ago than that, patients were paying as much as 50% of the bill.

Instead, with the current health care bills we are going to reduce the stake that people have in the cost of their health care at the time of service. Do you think there will be more inappropriate use, more overuse and more misuse?
