Re-engineering the Healthcare Delivery System

Editor’s note: Now here is an idea. Creating more access by re-engineering the delivery of health care and improving the supply of providers. By the way, it isn’t just about doctors. We should be creating systems of care that drive the high value work to the most skilled providers and vice versa.

Health reform may reduce access to care in some states
A government mandate that everyone have health insurance could impact access to care in states that have a growing shortage of doctors, nurses and other health professionals, a columnist writes in the Miami Herald. “Certainly there are ways to increase the supply of healthcare providers, and that should be the first step in a slow and phased approach to improving access to healthcare,” Jackie Bueno Sousa writes.
