Health Care: $27,273 per additional covered life

Editor’s note: Here is an interesting note out of the those watching the deliberations at Senate Finance on health care reform.

First observe the following 95% of people are covered — 5% of the US population is approximately 15 million. Taken against a cost of $900 billion that’s 33 million people (48m – 15m) divided by $900 billion equals $27,273 per additional person covered.

Draft legislation expected to emerge from the Senate Finance Committee has been priced under $900 billion over the next decade and would ensure healthcare coverage for 95% of Americans, committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) said.Read more soon at Also see the next Daily Dose.
