Health Care: COBRA participation increases

Editor’s note: When it costs less people buy more. The question is, is this a good thing when it comes to health care?

After the government enacted a new subsidy to make health insurance more affordable to millions of laid-off Americans, monthly enrollment rates for COBRA averaged 38% from March 2009 to June 2009, a 19% jump from the period of September 2008 to February 2009.
