Pilot Medical Home Study Shows Significantly Fewer ER Visits and Hospitalizations


According to a new study of a random sample of the 9,200 patients at Seattle’s Group Health Cooperative, patients at the medical home reported:

  • 29% fewer emergency room visits

  • 11% fewer hospitalization

  • 6% fewer in-person visits

  • 94% increase in email use

  • 12% more phone consultations
