Independent Comparative Effectiveness Needed

Study: Women with failing hearts don’t benefit from defibrillators
U.S. researchers who analyzed five trials involving 934 women and 3,810 men found that implantable defibrillators don’t reduce the risk of death in female patients with advanced heart failure. One of the researchers said male subjects are overrepresented in the studies and suggested that clinical trials of such devices should enroll the same number of women and men. Reuters
