E-Prescribing and Health Costs in Human Terms


Study: E-prescribing alerts can reduce adverse events
Dana-Farber Cancer Center researchers said medication alerts that are part of an electronic-prescribing system help prevent errors and increase patient safety. The study of 133,051 medical alerts found heeding the alerts would prevent 402 adverse events, including 49 serious events, and would reduce emergency department visits and hospitalizations.
