Summary of SFC Amendments 9/25

Editor’s note: The Senate Finance Committee has adjourned for the week and will reconvene on Tuesday morning. Here are the amendments they considered at today’s session.

Take note of C23 Cornyn — I think the American people would like a clear idea of what health care reform is going to cost…but hey…

——–

Ensign C10:  Regarding transparency and czars.  Any czar handling healthcare issues must be Senate confirmed.  Defeated, 10-13

Kerry C15:  Regarding age rating.  Establishes a 2 to 1 age rating for insurance companies. Withdrawn, possibly to be reconsidered.

Cornyn C23(Modified): Requires that all amendments accepted or rejected be re-scored by CBO or Joint Tax for accuracy before the bill is reported. If an amendment has been incorrectly scored, it must be reconsidered. Rejected, 11-12

Cantwell C2 (modified): PBM transparency.  Agreed to.

Kyl C10: would prohibit the federal government from defining the benefits that can be offered through private insurance. Rejected, 9-14
