Experts urge regulators to revamp laws to ease data exchange
Experts are calling for the revision of such federal laws as the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act to allow for improved exchange of laboratory test results between medical providers. “We’re not going to be able to make a lot of progress on any higher-level ambitions until we can get our arms around some of the nitty-gritty details, like the exchange of lab results and greater standardization,” said a co-chairman of the federal Health IT Policy Committee. Government Health IT (10/20)
