Worldwide data shows 51% of ICU patients have infections
Researchers analyzed a single day’s data for 1,265 hospital ICUs around the world and found 51% of patients had infections and 71% were receiving antibiotics to treat or prevent infection. The study found a 32% infection rate for patients in an ICU for one day or less but that increased to 70% for those in the unit for more than a week. U.S. News & World Report/HealthDay News (12/1)
