Rochester, NY RHIO

The Rochester Regional Health Information Organization is kicking off a project to connect area physicians to non-medical patient information.

Working with the Monroe County Office of the Aging, the local RHIO said Tuesday it plans to set up electronic links with area agencies serving seniors to let participating doctors track services provided by agencies including Lifespan of Greater Rochester Inc., Catholic Family Services and 48 other area non-profits offering eldercare services.

The network, which is to be built over the next few months, would be the first such network established by any U.S. RHIO. A system developed by PeerPlace Networks LLC, an East Rochester company that has developed software to track patient health status and services, is key to the planned network.
