Scotland’s care system ‘unsustainable’ due to funding cuts, says Cosla chief.
The Scotsman reports that funding shortfalls will make Scotland’s health and social care system unsustainable, a local authority chief has warned. Pat Watters, president of the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (Cosla), said the cost of meeting the needs of the ageing population was an urgent issue for councils amid expected falls in funding.

AMA to announce war on waste
Ninemsn.com reports that Australia’s peak medical body will launch a “war on waste” campaign to improve Queensland’s hospital system. Australian Medical Association Queensland President Dr Mason Stevenson says doctors, including high ranking clinicians from Queensland Health, have worked together over four weeks to identify flaws in the way money and resources have been distributed.
